EPR - SOLAR ARGOS : ANTI THEFT SYSTEM FOR SOLAR PANELS

EPR – Solar Agos

SOLAR ARGOS is an anti theft system particularly suitable for the protection of photovoltaic systems and solar panels. The system is based around RFID technology with radio frequency communication on 2.45 Ghz, and is made up of an RFID exchange (client reader) and a chain of active tags.

In order to provide cover across a wide range, the tags are able to communicate with each other information on the state of the previous tag and the condition of the object that it’s protecting along the chain, towards the client reader. Each chain of transponders can contain up to a maximum of 64 tags (for 128 panels).

Each tag is active with both the function “transmit” and “receive”. The tags in the chain are positioned sequentially, and the tag with the highest serial number is positioned closet to the reader. Indeed for the operating system as described above, the last tag must transmit to the reader all the information on the proceeding tags.

The information that is added to the reader provides the following indication to the state of the system:

  • Presence of the range of tags without signs of tampering
  • Presence of all the tags which have been tampered with and the serial number of each one.
  • Absence of one or more tags.

The single active tags of the RFID ARGOS 128 series are made up of a central body strengthened with a tampering sensor and satellite, which is connected by a 20cm cable, which is also reinforced by a sensor. The distance from one surface to one of the other two sensors can cause the emission of the antitheft signal by the part of the tag. The active tag is powered by two AA batteries with alarm signal of <120 s guaranteeing a minimum battery life of 10 years.

Below an example of a classic configuration of a standard system

The transponder with the highest number amongst the system communicates continuously with the receiver relaying information on the state of the entire chain. In the event that an RFID ARGOS 128 tag is tampered with or removed from the surface to which it’s applied, the tag goes into alert mode. The RFID ARGOSREADER 245 activates an alarm which send messages via the GSM network, sending the details to a server, for example.

TAG RFID ARGOS 128

The transponders of this series come in the following two main versions:

  1. RFID ARGOS 128 where the tag is made up of a central body and a satellite connected to the body via a 20 cm cable.
  2. RFID ARGOS 128 where the tag is made up of just a central body.

From an operational point of view the two versions are the same, only the RFID ARGOS 128 version allows optimization of the number of tags (where the application allows it) i.e it is possible to use only one tag to control two panels. The active transponders operate at a frequency of 2,45 GHz and are able to operate in both RX and in TX to create an ID transmission chain or the alarm data. The UID is 88 bit (64 positioned bits plus 24 auxiliary bits). The maximum power out is 1 mW, the reader implements an efficient algorithm of anti-collision at timed slots and the minimum duration of the battery for the alarm time < 120 s, if for 10 years
  • Tag: Active, operating on a frequency of 2.45 GHz for use with the reader RFID ARGOS READER 245FID
  • Operation:“Repeat” creates a serial transmission chain of data up to the receiver.
  • Maximum communicating distance between tags: 10 m
  • Anti collision System:Extremely quick and efficient anti-collision system that works contemporarily with more tags.
  • Removal sensor:Double removal sensor adapted for metal surfaces, with an internal sensor within the tag itself, and the other “satellite” is connected via a shielded 20cm cable. In the event of unauthorised removal the serial number of the tag will be transmitted-not that of the sensor.
  • Max number of tags per chain:64
  • System Rest time:Less than 120 s
  • Battery life:10 years
  • Casing Material:Plastic/resin
  • Waterproof Protection:: IP65
  • Resistant to ::
    ◦Cold (IEC68-2-1 Ad): -15°C °°°
    ◦Hoy (IEC68-2-2 Bd): +65°C
  • Immunity to emissions:(prETS 300 683 ed I-ETS 300 440)
  • Certifications: CE
